I was beginning to think I'd have to spend a lot of money on a dvd recorder but this little gadget has converted 9 full tapes to digital from my old analogue camcorder and I've burned the movies to dvd. What's more, the quality is every bit as good as on the tapes. A tip: make sure the audio input is set to USB and not "Line In".

Good bit of kit for the price, 23 Nov 2009

I bought it based on Amazon reviews, and it came bundled with a SCART adaptor to go in the VCR Scart Adapter Switchable Plug to Socket for silly money. Installation was dead easy but didn't bother with the video editing software as other reviewers found the likes of Windows Movie Maker better. Plug the bits in, connect the two with an RCA plug-to-plug cable and launch! The rest is down to your video editing skills.

I bought this easycap unit to replace a more expensive one i bought recently that didn't seem to be compatible with the Golden Videos software i wanted to use to capture vhs tape to my 32bit vista laptop - and it turned out to be a very good impulse buy - the drivers installed first time, and once connected via rca composite cable to the vcr i immediately got a good quality video and audio signal - no dropped frames, and clear stereo sound capture...

The instructions warned me to install the drivers FIRST - by putting the disc in the drive, and clicking the 'install drivers' option, and to only insert the easycap into the usb socket AFTER this was achieved - windows found the composite, and audio interface drivers in it's own memory, but i had to open the disc drive, and reinsert the disc when prompted, to let windows search for the 'video capture controller' driver, which it found on the disc,and installed in a few seconds - and success! - good picture, good sound, and using NCH Golden Videos freeware rather than the complicated ulead software that comes with the easycap, i began to transfer my collection of vhs movies and shows to the laptop...

great value, great results, and as the name says, EASY to use - 5/5

My son plays with this toy along with his older brother who also has toy soldiers, they have hours of fun constucting toys from lego and this set adds to their already huge supply.

Bought this as a first lego kit for my 4 year old and he loves it. My 20 year old loved making the car. Its having the 'little guys' that makes it fun for the younger child. The army figures are constantly on a mission to find Woody or Buzz, driving around in the jeep. Good for role play for younger children and developing fine motor skills (replacing heads and equipment and sitting the little guys in their jeep). I found this works really well with the Buzz & Woody 'to the rescue' kit - the one with a model of the rocket & RC the remote control car from the first film. The model jeep is quite tough and durable, and not as fiddly as the RC lego model. A good first lego for kids moving up from Duplo or large bricks. The recommended build age is 6-12 years, so a younger child like ours would need lots of help to build it - I think a 6 year old would probably do it on their own.

As this set is quite generic - ie army guys that could be in any army guy story, I think it will go on having loads of play value even when Toy Story goes out of fashion. Lego have now sold out of this kit, so bag one while you can, the rrp is £9.99, pay no more.

The microphone of the first one was broken - so despite the key making the other "click" it wouldn't allow voice. The other unit was fine and was loud enough to be heard out of the speaker of the faulty one.
Obviously a very cheap build quality - made to a budget and sold at a price point that doesn't allow quality. You get what you pay for.

It was replaced & now they are working fine.

Not the best for walkie talkie use - in fact you can hear the "hiding" child saying "can you hear me over" better than from the toy itself haha

So nice for CARS but not so good for proper use.

We bought this toy for our 3 year old son. After a frustrating start where all we could hear was noise, we realised that if you were using it with the car facing your mouth and kept it away from potential interference (such as wireless network receivers, baby monitors, etc), then it worked ok. No volume control is a bit rubbish, but for 12 quid, it's a reasonable toy. In hindsight, I think a proper walkie talkie would have been better.

This is the third set of character walkie talkies that my son has been given, they just don't ever seem to work. I would definitely suggest Fisher Price or Vitech I have seen those working well, they cost a little more, its the same old thing you get what you pay for. It is really dissapointing for the children when they open what looks like a really cool present for it to not work.
